The project
Built around clothes found second-hand, these sessions treated styling as a prompt for character rather than a finished answer. Each subject brought a different energy to the same compact studio world.
The approach
I used a small set, deep red surfaces and contrasting cyan, magenta and blue light to make inexpensive materials feel deliberate and cinematic. The looseness of the shoot left room for humour, performance and sudden changes of direction.
What remained
The series became an early marker for a way of working I still value: clear visual choices, modest resources and enough freedom for the people in front of the camera to surprise me.
