The project
I joined SSW TV around February 2021 and led a technical video team producing content for developers, clients and the wider technology community. I joined a Sydney team of myself and a part-time producer, then helped grow the operation to three people in Sydney and one in Melbourne.
The approach
I encouraged closer collaboration between video, design, marketing and development, while producing, filming and editing interviews, explainers, demonstrations, advertisements, scripted pieces and narrative content for YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram and other channels. I trained eight TV team members during my time leading the team and created production standards and onboarding used across the company.
What remained
The team delivered more than 20 livestreams, including monthly developer user groups, NDC conference coverage, awards and community events. I also researched and implemented a remote production system that made recording across multiple cities easier for both production staff and developers.

Building a distributed production team
The role combined hands-on production with team leadership. As the team grew across Sydney and Melbourne, I trained eight team members and developed company-wide standards and onboarding. I also brought producers, designers, marketers and developers into the work earlier, improving both the technical accuracy and the clarity of the final content.
Systems
A remotely operated multi-city studio
I researched, acquired and implemented a system connecting Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle and Hangzhou. Canon PTZ cameras could be controlled remotely, NDI carried video across the network, and a plug-and-play recording path let developers capture demonstrations and user groups without needing to become camera technicians.

Output
One production system, many formats
The team moved between long-form education, short-form campaigns, live broadcasts and tightly controlled stakeholder work without losing consistency or clarity.

I produced, filmed and edited interviews, technical demonstrations, explainers, advertisements and scripted narrative for long-form and social channels.
Design
A consistent visual system
I refreshed visual packages, reusable templates and editing standards, giving the channel a stronger identity and new team members a clearer framework.
Live
More than 20 livestreams
I ran developer user groups, conference coverage, awards and community broadcasts, balancing technical reliability with a polished viewer experience.
Delivery
Exacting requirements
I produced an NDA-sensitive government video series within tightly controlled wording, filming and delivery constraints.
